Can you enter the field of accounting without a degree in accounting?

Yes, you do not explicitly require a degree in accounting in order to become a Chartered Public Accountant or to enter the field of accounting. CPA Canada require an undergraduate degree with specific subject area coverage but offer preparatory courses for non-accounting graduates to get this coverage. Many aspiring CPAs complete an accounting diploma before entering the CPA program. We recommend referring to CPA Canada's website directly for information about their programs.
